About the Author
Lee Shaw began writing children’s picture books after a conversation with her five-year old son about these pesky little ants that kept getting in the house. The ants were after his cookie crumbs he dropped all over the floor. After some funny banter with her son about the ants and how they communicated, she jokingly told him she should write a story about it. Her son begged her to write him a story and she eventually promised to do so. After putting the tale down on paper, she liked it so much she decided to share it. The ant story, ‘The Shaws Have Cookies’, has turned into a saga with many more books to come. The second book of ‘The Shaws Have Cookies’, will be released in 2024. She is hoping to also have a third book before the end of the year.
Lee also has another book available, ‘Can I Just Be the Mascot?’ This book touches on more serious subjects. It is about a little boy’s not-so-great first experience with baseball and how he was treated by a parent. This parent takes little-kids sports entirely too seriously. She wanted other children who have had similar experiences to know that they are not alone. There are multiple lessons in the book. These include, speaking up for yourself, doing what YOU love, having fun, finishing what you start, trying your best, sharing your feelings and most importantly loving the arts is perfectly OK.
